April 7, 2016

How did you get introduced to the sport?

My Dad introduced me to the sport. He was a 3X All-American at the Naval Academy.

Did you dream of being where you are today?

I always believed that I could be the best. I always dreamed of playing in the MLL and becoming a professional athlete.

What's your current stick setup?

(Head, mesh, shaft, tape placement, etc.)

Maverik Centrik, Maverik Union, String King Mesh.

What do you look for In a pocket?

I  look for a quick release when shooting.

What would you say your greatest achievement is through out your career?

Being named captain of my team my senior year at Maryland.

Best piece of advice you have ever received?

My dad always told me to be first in every sprint. This instilled the competitiveness that pushed be throughout my career.

How many shots do you typically take a day?

I never keep count. But I usually shoot hard for about an hour.

What does your daily wall ball routine consist of?

I always change it up, but i make sure i double my reps with my off hand.

Most important thing to work on to be a "great" midfielder?

I think being a great midfielder consists of being able to play both offense and defense. I also think that being able to shoot hard and accurate on the run is one of the most important skills of a midfielder.

Was Maryland your first school choice or did you have other schools in the mix?

I went to Princeton out of high school. I played my freshman year there and then transferred to Maryland where I played my last three years.

How would you compare NCAA Lacrosse to MLL?

The MLL is like a bunch of all-star teams playing each other every week.

Tell us one thing that most people would be surprised to know about Mike Chanenchuk.......

I lived in Memphis, Tennessee and Chicago, Illinois until 4th grade. My family moved back to Long Island in when i was in 4th grade and thats when i started playing lacrosse.

Most memorable goal? Something that got the crowd loud.

I scored the game winning goal with about 1 second left on the clock my senior year vs Cornell in the first round of the NCAA tournament. we won the game 8-7
